3. Leonardo Da Vinci’s ” Lady with a Ermine ” shows a woman holding a ermine or a type of short- tailed weasel with a white coat.

Left, Original. Right, My Rendition

It is said that in his painting, Leonardo created a kind of mythical creature, a combination of several types of animals he was drawing at the time.

There are also many opinions on why Da Vinci painted this woman holding this particular creature.

Why do you think he did? Do you think it might be the lady’s pet? Do you have a beloved pet at home? What is your favorite animal?

For this activity, Create an art piece depicting an animal or creature of your choice! Whether that be a favorite type, your own pet or mythical ” a creature thought not to exist and possibly posses mystical and or magical powers. ”

We have also looked at portrait art from the Renaissance. Why not try including a portrait of yourself or a friend with an image of the creature you choose similar to the ” Lady with the Ermine “.

Well, we have come to the end of our week of art from the Renaissance era! I hope I was able to motivate you with some of my favorite art/artists to #Slay the art game by being #Inspired to #Create!!! Stay tuned for next week when we look at art from one of my favorite art eras… Baroque!

I would love to see your artistic creations! Feel free to use the tag #SlayInspireCreate if posting on social media! See you next week!
